Bad Person

Bad Person
2005, RT 1m45s, with Ben Mikuska.
A defiant claymation that pulls no punches offering up and unparalleled string of invective that would make an English teacher proud. While never obscene it offers some of the nastiest combinations of insults that could be assembled—including a quote from Shakespeare. bad person flings a litany of insults at the viewer. Based on the observation that we have many synonyms for a bad person, and just a few for a good one.

Like

Like
2005, RT 4m30s, with music by Isabelle Noel.
like is a slow, meditative work that explores the visceral nature of complex emotions such as love—or love lost. It is both hypnotic and relaxing, inviting the viewer to slow down and sink into reflection. Its’ distinctly west coast organic imagery counterpoints architectural elements of the exhibition site as a spatial and temporal interlude. Created during the Sound + Vision thematic residency at Banff Centre for the Arts, with the assistance of the Vancouver Aquarium and features original music by Isabelle Noel.

A drawing based animation: A series of vignettes based on my childhood perspective on my step grandmother, Anna, who survived WW2 in Hungary to later emigrate to Canada and marry my elderly grandfather. The stories reflect the odd habits she had developed as part of her survival, and the humanity and inhumanity of this process. Created during a thematic residency “Burnout: loss and recovery” at the Alternator Gallery during October 2004. Featuring original music composed by Moshe Denburg, performed by the Orchid Ensemble. Supported by Sony.

How To Make Love In An Earthquake

How To Make Love In An Earthquake

Each voice-over is performed by a contemporary Canadian female media artist, or media theorist. Performances by: Emily Vey Duke, Michelle Irving, Carol Sawyer, Randy Lee Cutler, Laiwan, and Jen Weih.
